ROSELAND MG RUN
Sunday 1st September 2002

What can be better than glorious sunshine, wonderful company, open top motoring through the leafy lanes of the Roseland in Cornwall on a Sunday afternoon. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Well perhaps not absolutely nothing - but thereabouts.

Anyone for a cuppa?

And so it was that a dozen MGs from an M-type to an MGRV8, and an Austin Healey 3000 thrown in for good measure - well it was Ron Henderson's and he is the MG Octagon Car Club representative and his TC was off the road with stub-axle trouble and he just happened to pick up this bargain as it was goin' beggin', so we let him off ! - each made their way to St Mawes for a very civilized Sunday afternoon cup of tea and cake.

For some of the participants, the adventure started by taking the picturesque King Harry Ferry from Trelissick across the River Fal to the Roseland and onwards to Mike Hill's abode in St Mawes. What a view over the water we had on parking up - just stunning and so peaceful.

Having taken Tea, we commenced our journey for some 26 miles through 'chocolate box' villages. Gerrans, Portscatho, Tregony, Veryan, Portloe and Veryan again!!!!!! That wasn't supposed to happen but my navigator and I missed a T-Junction - don't ask me how!!! But we soon realised our mistake and 'about turned' to rejoin the suggested route.

Ever felt that you don't fit in ?

Now That's what I call Restoration !!!

Now it may just be that I was keen to get to the pub, or it may have been that everyone else was admiring the views on route, but we arrived at the final destination a good 15 minutes before the second car and we passed them going in the same erroneous direction through Veryan. What the hell, everyone arrived at the King's Head Inn at Ruan Lanihorne at the end of a wonderful afternoons drive. Many thanks to Mike and John for their well organized trip and also to their respective partners for the tea and cake.

This event was the third impromptu social event to be organized as a collaboration between the three MG Clubs in Cornwall and it is hoped that ALL MG owners, whichever club they subscribe to, will enjoy the events and participate in as many as possible. Further details on Tri-Club events will be published on this website.
