MARAZION VINTAGE RALLY

5th May 2001

Grey clouds over St Michael's Mount in the morning

The weather forecast for the Bank Holiday weekend predicted dry and warmth throughout, a 'first' for a Bank Holiday! And so four MGs, an MG TF1500, MGA, MG Midget and MGB Roadster, assembled at the Fox & Hounds for a leisurely drive to Marazion. Although grey clouds covered the sky, they were perforated by blue patches indicating a pleasant day to come.

At Marazion, where vintage tractors and classic cars were already on display, the club cars joined the line-up and immediately set about cleaning off the road dirt. The newly completed Club Sign took a prominent position in front of the MGs announcing the emergence of the new MG Owners Club in Cornwall.

Club Display Board

It was good to see so many foreign visitors to the event, evident by the different languages with German and American tourists in predominance. The visitors to the displays showed intense interest in all the classic cars and exhibits and MGs made by far the largest number of single marque cars on the display field.

Marazion Vintage Rally turned out to be a pleasant opening to the season and the sun and warmth made a very welcome return to our shores.
